The Human Side of Technology
Hi rebels,
It’s been a while.
My main focus this year so far has been the Rebel Speakeasy so I took a few months break from this publication (and the podcast)…
It’s been a weird year for me so far… but now we’re back again.
Podcast
This new season of the Non-Fungible Rebels started with the conversation we live streamed on X with Ann Brody a few weeks ago.
Ann has been studying the social issues around tech trying to understand how tech implicates human and ethics. At some point (around 8 years ago) she discovered Bitcoin and looked into the decentralized technology. She wanted to know more because “it seemed too good to be true.”
As she continued doing more research Ann fell down the rabbit hole of crypto.
In this episode we discussed:
How homogeneous is the web3/crypto community (or not)
Ann’s hacker studies
The crypto culture (and crypto Twitter)
“I call crypto Twitter a toilet”
Impactful projects in the space
DAOs (and their shortcomings)
Governance
Changes in the space during the last 8 years
Ask
This space is full of grifters, opportunists and fake overhyped influencers. Often it’s difficult to find the real ones for my podcast.
The real rebels, those who build things that really matter, those who know what they are talking about… those who still remember how and most importantly why this space was created.
I want to believe that there are many of them out there - I just haven’t met them yet.
So if you know anyone from those I am looking for please reach out and let me know… or even better, maybe make an intro.
Thanks!
Looks like that was all for now. Have an awesome week ahead!
